How to start a reselling business in Ghana with GH₵ 1,000

You can start a reselling business in Ghana with about GH₵ 1,000 by buying a few pieces of two or three products at the factory price, selling them on WhatsApp status, Instagram and TikTok at the going price, and putting the money back into the product that sold - moving from a few pieces to 10 or more, then to a carton, where the price per unit is lowest. Atrady Business is built for exactly this path: any quantity from 1 piece to a carton, prices shown upfront, paid in cedis, shipped by sea or air, and a warehouse in Ghana so you never need a shop.
Week 1: choose and order
- Pick two or three products you'd buy yourself and that people rebuy (see our guide to products that sell in Ghana). Light and unbreakable is best for a first order.
- Open each on Atrady Business. Note the price for a few pieces, the 10+ price and the carton price per unit - that ladder is your growth plan.
- Order 3-5 pieces of each. Under 10 buys like a sample. Choose air (about 2 weeks) to start selling sooner, or sea (about 2 months) for a lower fee if you can wait. The fee is shown before you pay.
- Pay by Mobile Money or card. Keep the rest of your GH₵ 1,000 for data, a rider and packaging.
While you wait: build the shop you don't have to rent
- Set up a WhatsApp Business profile with a catalog, a business Instagram and a TikTok. That's your shop.
- Decide your selling price from the landed cost (product price + shipping fee, both on the product) and what the same thing sells for at the market.
- Line up a rider or a delivery service for Accra or Kumasi, and know their price so you can quote delivery instantly.
When it lands: sell, then reinvest
- Photograph every product in daylight on a plain background. Post the price - buyers in Ghana skip 'DM for price'.
- Post daily on status, and reply fast. Most first sales come from people who already know you.
- Track what sold in how many days. That number decides your next order.
- Reorder the winner at 10 or more - the price per unit drops. When you're selling a carton's worth a month, buy the carton: it's the lowest price per unit, and Atrady's warehouse can hold it and release stock as you sell, so your capital isn't sitting in your room.
Month 3 onwards
By now you have two or three products that move, a customer list on WhatsApp, and cartons at the warehouse. Add a new test product each month with a few pieces, keep reinvesting into the ones that sell, and flag any slow stock at the warehouse for resale so Atrady's team can help move it. That is the whole business - the only things that change are the numbers.
Mistakes that eat GH₵ 1,000
- Buying a carton of something you've never sold. Test with a few pieces first.
- Choosing air for heavy or bulky goods without checking the fee - it can be several times the sea price.
- Ignoring the landed cost and pricing off the factory price alone.
- Going quiet. A reselling business on WhatsApp lives on daily posts.
Ready when you are
Every product on Atrady Business shows its price for a few pieces, for 10 or more and for a carton - and the sea and air fee - before you pay.
Start with a few pieces on Atrady BusinessQuestions people ask
- Is GH₵ 1,000 enough to start a business in Ghana?
- Enough to test a few products with a few pieces each at the factory price, sell them, and reinvest. It isn't enough for a carton of the wrong thing - which is why testing first matters.
- Do I need to register a business to resell?
- Not to start selling on WhatsApp or Instagram. Registering with the Office of the Registrar of Companies becomes worthwhile once you're invoicing shops or opening a business bank account.
- Where do I keep stock without a shop?
- At Atrady's warehouse in Ghana - keep cartons there and take deliveries in any quantity as you sell. A small monthly storage fee per carton is collected when you request a delivery.
- How fast can I get my first products?
- About 2 weeks by air, about 2 months by sea, from when the goods leave the factory.
